Safe & Gentle Ultrasound Imaging
Ultrasound uses sound waves to produce pictures of different body systems. As a small wand is passed over the body part being studied, an image appears on a computer screen, allowing the physician or technologist to view the body part. Ultrasound has no known harmful effects, does not use ionizing radiation and provides a clear image of soft tissues that may not appear as well through X-ray.
Ultrasound is used to study the abdomen, pelvis, and the blood flow in the legs and carotid arteries. Ultrasound is also used in pregnancy.
